As camp transitions to an online format this year, we want to do everything we can to capture online the valuable connections and community that campers create while in Vesuvius. To support and strengthen those bonds of community, we will be offering “bunkhouse groups” for campers to gather with one another and with staff members for meaningful conversation and the deepening of friendships. These groups will meet via the Zoom platform throughout July and early August. We feel that these facilitated small groups will give campers an opportunity to meet, grow closer to, and make memories with other campers while quarantined apart this summer. In forming these groups, we will endeavor to create a relaxed environment where campers can feel comfortable being themselves and interact with their peers. Bunkhouse groups will always have two or more counselors present to cultivate the space and encourage meaningful interactions—as well as just get to know our campers! Our hope is that Bunkhouse Groups will help campers feel connected to Camp and give them a meaningful way to check in with their friends and counselors.
If your camper is interested in participating in Bunkhouse Groups, please fill out a brief form below, which will allow us to better tailor this experience for your campers. We plan to form initial groupings of campers later this week, although camper are always welcome to join later in the summer. We will let you know over the weekend your camper’s group and the date and time of the first meeting, and we will send you information about joining the meeting using Zoom. (General information about Zoom will follow in a subsequent e-mail.)
We hope to see your campers’s faces soon! Please let me if you have any questions or concerns.
