Nature Camp 2020–Nature Journaling

Online Meetings: Tuesdays 2:00 – 3:00 PM (EDT)

Taught by counselors Mary McMahon (left) and Niamh Carlos, Nature Journaling is all about how you observe, write, and draw. This class is all about making the most with what you have, no matter your resources or skill level. There will be prompts provided weekly, but they can be adapted to however you want. Get excited for journaling prompts such as, experimental observation, contour drawings, sound maps, color studies, and a guided nature walk. We are so excited to journal and chat with you all over Zoom for the next six weeks.

For Week 2
The first prompt for our nature journalers is a guided nature walk. You are welcome to take a walk in any environment that is accessible to you as you listen. In the audio, we prompt you to take note of sensory observations as you walk, as well as introduce you to the journaling concept of: “I notice, I wonder, it reminds me of.” You can record these observations through words and/or drawings if you would like, and we look forward to discussing what you all noticed, wondered and were reminded of during our next class, on Tuesday, July 14th.
